Great Strides Walk....Zumba!!

Well the Great Strides walk is this coming Saturday. We have got everything ready to go (so far), walkers are in order with their walking shoes ready to go, donations are coming in, t-shirts have been donated. I am eager for the walk, its only a short few miles but the cause is so empowering! I feel like we've done a successful job thus far and I just hope the weather keeps nice for the walk. I'd hate to not have the kids be able to join us in their strollers because of the weather. Ran into some glitches with the Dough Raiser as a few people felt that the totals were not allocated properly, so I mentioned it to the person who organized it and it just seems to be snowballing into what I did not want, a chaotic mess. The cause seems to get lost in translation, especially when people talk about money. I intend to let it go, and move forth. Still haven't gotten the tattoos yet, saving our pennies and waiting for his to finish being drawn. Oh yeah, we're all getting tattoo for CF, so when some one asks hey whats that tattoo for (cause all mine have a reason minus a few for fun ones, but for fun is a deal too, right) we can tell them about CF, how vital the research for the CURE is and hopefully they take us to heart, and join us in making CF stand for CURE FOUND.

Zumba class one was this past Saturday, wow! A work out a good one, and FUN! I am taking a class tonight because of the walk this Saturday. Also looking into a second class weekly to get into, it was that good. Been on the healthy kick this year, so far yet to see any results, but I am doing it so when I have rug rats I can chase them around without being winded and play all the games and sports they want to. I wish the husband would join the band wagon with working toward bettering himself for the future children (we don't have and won't any time soon, but why not start now). So salads, and fruits, tons of veggies and working out. It is fun, not even hard, it is just commitment, and a lot of it. When it is so easy to lounge on the couch with a bag of chips and bowl of dip, you've got to focus. As usual I am my biggest fan and toughest critic, I'm still working on that one but I think I like it so I don't intend to change it.

So yesterday I held a Dough Raiser to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the turnout was great, our bill alone was nearly $500, so I am confident that we succeeded in raising the 20% of meal sales. All those who came out to UNOs (ps UNOs thanks for hosting!) a sincere thank you, you don’t even know what it means that you were able to eat for a cure with us!

Cystic Fibrosis is a devastating genetic disease, which right now we don’t have the ability to cure, but we can and one day we will! CF is a giant part of my life, as my friend Isabelle, a beautiful three year old has CF, and I hope that one day we can do more for her than treat but cure her! And with her, so many other people who have CF. Before I knew Isabelle, I had known that CF was a disease, but did not know much more not anyone with it. Then two years ago, I met Isabelle and I will forever fight to help find a cure for CF. I never thought I would be as inspired as I am by her, she is so amazing, and incredibly smart! Her parents are wonderful people, and the three of them are now family to us all. I’m blessed to have met such amazing people.

So I am walking next Saturday with the Great Strides walk, down at Revere Beach – the turnout is anticipated to be good and I am hoping for great weather, a quick 5 mile walk down the boardwalk in the morning. So far I’ve raised $365 toward the CF Foundation, and with the Dough Raiser I hope that we were able to raise at least another $300! In addition to this walk we are doing, Isabelle’s father rides a 250 mile (yes I said 250 mile) motocross event every June to benefit the CF Foundation, and last year we were able to raise $400 for that at my job site, a construction site, full of hard working sweaty men donated $400 to the CF Foundation, I was beyond touched.

I guess it’s hard to realize the need for research, treatment and a cure for something until you’ve associated a face with it, for me I have associated a lot more than a face, it’s my family, and I don’t give up on family. Have you ever read a how to blog for bloggers?

I have, probably at least a dozen blog’s I have read contain a how to, where to and why to on blogging. They list reasons to blog, best places to blog and the theory of a blog. To me, a blog is something to be read to enjoy passing time; such as I do for 5 out of the 9 hours I am at work 5 days a week. I have my favorites; they mostly are about food and peoples rants and raves. So I thought well I should probably join the statement and get a blog, I mean I have/have had a myspace, xanga, live journal and of course facebook.

So here goes it, the initial posting of bloggers the fashion statement, the ice breaker, a bit about the blogger, yes that is none other than me, your host, a very opinionated, think after you speak, know-it-all...

I’m from Boston, I am a to the grave Boston sports fan, in this order – Bruins, Sox, Pats and Celts. I will see the Bruins win the cup, and it will be this year (I will probably say that again if this blogging last that long). I like to eat, I’ve considered Food Addicts Anonymous, until I realized it was a Christian thing, no that I have an feelings toward Christians, I just think that eating it a choice not a breaking of a commandment. I’m not obese, or even closet o being overweight, I just enjoy food – mainly chicken, with honey mustard.. mm good. I have a passion for music, so much so that is literally can caress the inner most part of my soul and physically move me from one universe to the next. I cannot play, nor sing in tune, but I have a serious knack for lyrics. I like to listen to new live music with my eyes closed because sometimes the appearance of a band can sway the ears. Interesting. I wish I lived in the 80s, wait make that the 60’s too. I’m married, 136 days in, to my best friend and worst enemy. I like art, and reading depressing lost soul books. And as stated above, I am very opinionated, I think way after I’ve spoken, and I do know-it-all.. also its hard for me to say I was wrong, and apologize. I advocate for suicide awareness and a cure for Cystic Fibrosis (CF) daily. I have an obsession with ink, and when I was younger it was hair dye and piercings, wait I’m not even old, but I was a freshman about 10 years ago so that makes me sound old, ew, where does the time go! Back to the ink, I have ink for suicide awareness and soon will have a beautiful piece for CF. Keep reading, you’ll hear all about my reasons why, but all you need to know is, she is a beautiful smart, amazing three year old girl and she stole my heart about 2 years ago, and she is keeping it forever. I’m clumsy, and forget just about everything I ever knew and or was to remember, not by choice most times. I forgive, I never forget.

So with that… and now your eyes are blood shot and your yawning.. I am going to sign off of this and think about what I can impress you with the next posting, perhaps how I put on two different shoes and it took me 4 hours to realize.
